Medford’s parks, playgrounds, and open spaces are some of the most valuable assets in our community and they are widely used by residents - and visitors - of all ages. Our parks and open spaces - all 300 acres - should be a source of pride, and must be accessible and safe for users of all ages and abilities. In my first term I committed to making park upgrades a priority, and in 18 months my administration has been able to be creative and find funding through numerous sources, many outside of the city’s general fund budget, to begin or start planning for projects both large and small at more than 30 parks throughout the community, and we already have more in the works. In August 2021 I published an op-ed in the Medford Transcript with more details about our work.
